Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Director in formulating, communicating, and executing plans, policies, and procedures for SRP Federal Affairs.
  • Act as the office liaison to SRP headquarters for Washington D.C. office operations and support.
  • Engage in trade association and coalition briefings to monitor and report on pertinent government legislation and regulatory updates. Assist in organizing and providing support for SRP cross-functional meetings, collaborating closely with subject-matter experts.
  • Review invoices and the department's expense reports, ensuring compliance with SRP policies. Serve as the budget coordinator for Federal Affairs and work closely with SRP headquarters.
  • Assist the Federal Affairs team in formulating SRP strategic positions on current and emerging issues.
  • Maintain a network of contacts from government and private sectors to effectively communicate processes.
  • Prepare quarterly federal lobbying reports.
  • Travel may be required.
Position Summary

Assist the Senior Director in office operations, including the development and implementation of departmental plans and office procedures, while serving as the office liaison with SRP headquarters. Represent SRP Federal Affairs with internal and external stakeholders on various projects. Communicate effectively at all levels of government and within the company. Prepare and submit SRP's lobbying disclosure compliance reports. Monitor and analyze congressional legislation, regulatory policies, and related activities impacting water and energy issues. Aid the Federal Affairs team in identifying, developing, and implementing water and energy policies to advance SRP.

Qualifications

For Senior Level: A minimum of five years of utility-related experience in planning, environmental affairs, public affairs, or finance is preferred. Must possess specialized knowledge in utility regulation, economics, and operations, particularly concerning climate change, reregulation, rate structures, and utility financing requirements.

Promotion to Level 2 necessitates a minimum of two years of experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more complex tasks as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years of experience at Level 2; recognized as a specialist in the functional area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

5 years of office experience and government or utility experience is preferred.

Education

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment is required.
