Job Overview

The Project Engineer at Jr. Davis Construction Company, Inc. plays a crucial role in the execution of heavy civil construction projects. Collaborating closely with the Project Manager and the project team, you will facilitate and streamline various processes essential for project success. Your responsibilities will include overseeing project schedules, managing material deliveries, and ensuring adherence to budgets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate work schedules and manage design modifications in collaboration with project stakeholders.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of project scope by regularly consulting with field operations, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Review project requirements daily, adjust project schedules as necessary, analyze specifications, and coordinate with the production team while tracking all contract pay items.
  • Update project schedules based on input from Field Operations in accordance with contract specifications.
  • Compile and distribute subcontractor bids and estimates, ensuring contract documents are accessible at the project site for management input.
  • Work directly under the guidance of Project Management.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety Policies, prioritizing safety on all job sites.
  • Assist the Project Manager with project initiation and completion tasks.
  • Process and track all Submittals and RFIs, including maintaining logs.
  • Create and maintain the Project CPM Schedule with logical input from Project Management and Field Operations.
  • Support Project Operations with two-week Look Ahead schedules, particularly for FDOT Projects that require weekly resource loading.
  • Attend and document minutes for Weekly Progress Meetings when not provided by the owner.
  • Coordinate with survey teams on project issues that require survey involvement or RFI requests.
  • Verify that contract drawings align with EOR revisions, RFIs, and CSI modifications.
  • Assist the Project Manager with quarterly Look Ahead Schedules and projected resource needs.
  • Provide accurate field quantities for billing and cost control, collaborating with the project superintendent to support projections and cost completion. These quantities should be recorded in Heavy Job.
  • Review Labor and Equipment reports with field personnel to ensure budget adherence.
  • Assist in scheduling, tracking, and coordinating subcontractors and the delivery of permanent materials.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with construction project management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative mindset suitable for both office and field environments.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with clients and subcontractors.
