Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure pharmacy compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations
  • Guide pharmacy staff in scheduling, purchasing, clinical matters, and other responsibilities
  • Collaborate with pharmacy management to ensure effective daily operations and implement quality and cost control strategies
  • Work with pharmacy and regional staff to provide necessary clinical and technical support
  • Address pharmaceutical inquiries from customers and pharmacy personnel, interpreting their needs and providing information and guidance
  • Maintain a comprehensive patient database, including current and past medical histories, relevant clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medications (including over-the-counter and home remedies)
  • Document all communications with physicians, nurses, and other team members, as well as patients and their families, in the pharmacy system
  • Gather and maintain all required documentation in accordance with federal and state regulatory agencies and corporate compliance policies
  • Implement policies and procedures for the safe procurement, storage, distribution, and disposal of drugs and biologicals
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Required: Degree in Pharmacy
  • Preferred: Pharm D
Work Experience:
  • Required: Experience in pharmacy practice
  • Preferred: Experience in long-term care pharmacy
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Required: Familiarity with pharmacy laws and federal and state regulations related to long-term care and pharmaceutical practices for long-term care residents; proficiency in computer usage
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Required: Current pharmacy license in the state of practice
Behavioral Competencies:
  • Required: Strong organizational and planning skills; attention to detail; goal-oriented; team player; customer service focus; effective oral communication
