Position Overview:

We are currently seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our team as Baristas. The ideal candidates will possess a deep appreciation for coffee, craft beer and wine, and excellent customer service skills. Whether creating the perfect cappuccino or mixing up a specialty mimosa, baristas at Jam are key ambassadors of our brand and play an integral role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for our guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve espresso drinks and a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including beer and wine with precision and attention to detail.
  • Welcome guests warmly, engage with them in a friendly and professional manner, and provide attentive service throughout their visit.
  • Demonstrate expertise in coffee drinks, beer, and wine offerings, providing recommendations and guidance to guests based on their preferences and menu selections.
  • Mix and garnish alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and presentation standards, ensuring consistency and quality with each drink.
  • Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including proper storage and rotation of expresso, beer, wine, and garnishes.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels, restocking supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently, processing payments and reconciling cash drawers at the end of each shift.
  • Uphold responsible alcohol service practices, including checking identification, monitoring guest intoxication levels, and refusing service when necessary.
  • Collaborate with servers, managers, and other team members to ensure seamless communication and coordination of food and beverage service.
  • Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling of food, glassware, utensils, and equipment.
  • Stay informed about current beverage trends, new products, and industry developments, and share knowledge with colleagues and guests.
  • Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner, striving to resolve issues to the satisfaction of the guest and the company.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a barista in a high-volume coffeehouse or restaurant setting is preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of coffee, beer, and wine.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with guests and colleagues in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, multitasking and prioritizing tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • TIPS (Training for Intervention ProcedureS) certification is preferred but can be obtained after hire.
  • Availability to work days, weekends, and holidays as needed.
