Position Overview:
We are in search of enthusiastic and talented individuals to join our team as Baristas. The ideal candidates will have a profound love for coffee, craft beverages, and exemplary customer service skills.
Whether crafting the ideal espresso or concocting a unique cocktail, baristas at Jam are essential representatives of our brand and play a crucial role in fostering a warm and inviting environment for our guests.
Responsibilities:
- Expertly prepare and serve espresso beverages and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including beer and wine, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Greet guests with warmth, engage them in a friendly and professional manner, and provide attentive service throughout their stay.
- Exhibit knowledge in coffee, beer, and wine selections, offering recommendations and insights to guests based on their tastes and menu choices.
- Mix and garnish drinks according to established recipes and presentation standards, ensuring consistency and quality with every beverage.
- Maintain a tidy and organized bar area, including proper storage and rotation of espresso, beer, wine, and garnishes.
- Monitor inventory levels, restocking supplies as necessary to ensure smooth operations.
- Accurately handle cash and credit transactions, processing payments and reconciling cash drawers at the end of each shift.
- Uphold responsible alcohol service practices, including verifying identification, monitoring guest intoxication levels, and refusing service when appropriate.
- Collaborate with servers, managers, and other team members to ensure effective communication and coordination of food and beverage service.
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation protocols, including proper handling of food, glassware, utensils, and equipment.
- Stay updated on current beverage trends, new products, and industry developments, sharing knowledge with colleagues and guests.
- Address guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner, striving to resolve issues to the satisfaction of both the guest and the establishment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a barista in a busy coffeehouse or restaurant environment is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of coffee, beer, and wine.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with guests and colleagues positively and professionally.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, multitasking and prioritizing tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
- TIPS (Training for Intervention ProcedureS) certification is preferred but can be obtained post-hire.
- Availability to work during days, weekends, and holidays as required.
