About the Role

USAA is seeking an experienced Property Adjuster to join our Catastrophe team. As a Property Adjuster, you will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling low to moderate complexity property insurance claims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Claims Investigation: Proactively manage assigned claims caseload, investigate claim damages, and identify potential discrepancies.
  • Claims Resolution: Partner with vendors and internal business partners to facilitate claims resolution, and coordinate with management for guidance on assessing settlement amounts.
  • Claims Documentation: Maintain accurate, thorough, and current claim file documentation throughout the claims process.
  • Estimating and Negotiation: Apply knowledge of estimating technology platforms and virtual inspection tools to prepare and manage low to moderate complexity property insurance claims estimates, and negotiate equitable settlements.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • Experience: 1 year of customer service, military leadership, construction-related industry/insurance experience, and/or experience handling low complexity property claims.
  • Skills: Knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools and platforms, demonstrated negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills, and ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Residential Property Adjusting Experience: 1+ years of residential property adjusting of moderate complexity claims.
  • Estimate Writing Skills: 1+ years of estimate writing skills using Xactimate, ClaimsX, or virtual estimating.
  • Property Catastrophe Experience: Experience on a Property Catastrophe team handling inside or field claims (i.e. wind, hail, hurricane, flooding).
  • US Military Experience: Prior experience working directly for a standard insurance carrier, and ability to work overtime and extended hours to support CAT claims.
