Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Actalent. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for facilitating on-site engineering and project assistance for substation construction projects. This role involves performing testing and energization of communications and control equipment in high voltage electrical substations, radio stations, and control centers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform testing of substation equipment, including power circuit breakers, transformers, and static capacitors.
  • Verify CT/PT ratio, CT polarity, transformer impedance, power factor for transformers, timing of power circuit breakers, and insulation voltage withstand tests.
  • Support the design, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Gather information for electrical drawings, reports, and calculations to support the engineering solutions for electrical systems.
  • Assist with coordinating construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to maintain compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
  • 6 months of experience and knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principals, and practices applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission system.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Training or experience in Power Systems Engineering sufficient to allow knowledge development of design standards through on-the-job training.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand electrical prints, including one-lines, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
