Position Overview:
As an adjunct faculty member, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in surgical technology, aligning with the strategic objectives of Elgin Community College. Your role will involve assessing student progress to support their educational aspirations.
Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess the following:
- Certification as a surgical technologist;
- A minimum of two years of experience in an operating room scrub role or as an educator in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the last five years.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in sterile processing and distribution is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Your duties will include:
- Conducting assigned classes and/or laboratory sessions.
- Preparing lesson plans and instructional materials.
- Providing a comprehensive course syllabus that outlines grading criteria, attendance policies, classroom behavior expectations, course content, and contact information.
- Verifying student enrollment and submitting grade reports.
- If applicable, preparing laboratory sessions and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Student Evaluation:
It is essential to:
- Maintain accurate records of student performance.
- Offer timely and constructive feedback to students.
Student Support:
In addition, you will:
- Maintain office hours for student consultations.
- Guide students to appropriate support services.
- Accommodate students with special needs.
