Limited Positions Available North Oaks Senior Living Community is in search of
Geriatric Nursing Assistants (GNA) for our Health Center. We provide competitive compensation along with a generous sign-on bonus. Currently, we have a few openings for
7am-3pm and 3pm-11pm shifts. These positions are part-time, with some requiring weekend availability.
The
Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) supports the licensed nursing team by executing routine nursing tasks and aiding residents with their daily living activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists residents with personal care including dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, toileting, and exercising.
- Administers treatments, conducts tests, performs procedures, and collects specimens as directed.
- Records and reports observations and outcomes of treatments, tests, procedures, and specimens as necessary.
- Transfers, transports, and escorts residents as required.
- Responds promptly to signal lights.
- Changes bed linens, makes beds, and maintains cleanliness and order in resident rooms.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensures safe and sanitary workstations and equipment.
- Promotes resident independence and encourages participation in activities, restorative programs, and rehabilitation.
- Participates in in-service training and educational sessions as assigned.
- Performs specific duties and responsibilities as designated by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a state-approved geriatric nursing assistant training program. Previous experience as a geriatric nursing aide is preferred. Registration with the State of Maryland registry is required.
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform basic arithmetic. Capability to document care provided.
- Compliance with North Oaks Influenza Policy is mandatory for this role for all employees. Please refer to the policy for details. All employees may access the North Oaks Vaccination Policy through their Human Resources representative or Executive Director.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, and squatting; potential exposure to blood and body fluids which may contain HIV and/or HBV; must be able to transport residents using a wheelchair, geri-chair, or shower chair; capable of pushing up to 150 lbs. unassisted. Must be able to transfer, lift, turn, and position a resident weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted or with assistance for residents over 125 lbs. Must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, squat, and walk for up to 90% of the workday. May encounter offensive odors and combative behavior. Must be able to reach up to a height of 6 feet. Must be able to push a dietary cart weighing up to 40 lbs. unassisted. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
