Accounting Manager

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team at McNair Interests. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the completion of the month-end financial reporting process, preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements. Additionally, they will assist with billing and collecting management and trustee fees, prepare Board Book items, and ensure the intercompany process is completed on time. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GAAP principles and procedures, IT savvy with proficiency in MS Office applications, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist in completing the month-end financial reporting process, including preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Prepare the management fee calculation and assist in maintaining the timesheet portal.
- Prepare the Trustee Fee calculation and administer it based on board-approved guidelines.
- Assist with billing and collecting management and trustee fees.
- Prepare Board Book items.
- Assist with the intercompany process and ensure its completion on time.
- Assist with quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Effectively share in supervisory responsibilities, including performance management for the Senior, Staff Accountant, and Accounts Payable positions to ensure that departmental goals are achieved.
- Coach and develop accounting staff.
- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes and preparation of budget-to-actual variance reports.
- Upload budget information to the accounting system and review reports before delivering to management.
- Assist with maintaining the Accounts Payable cycle and ensure adherence to company policies and established internal controls and policies.
- Review expense reports and assist with the overall process to ensure timely accounting is performed for Company credit cards and, ultimately, disbursements for out-of-pocket transactions to employees.
- Review payroll entries prepared by accounting senior/staff for reasonableness and accuracy.
- Participate in the new vendor setup process, ensuring that any new vendors have all required forms filled out and included in the accounting system. Assist with verbally verifying the information directly with vendors.
- Review employee expense reimbursement file for accuracy.
- Assist with personal property tax requirements and ensure timely filings.
- Be flexible and willing to work on-site to enable efficient cross-functional collaboration for special or critical projects.
- Ensure all routine processes are clearly and accurately documented using company standard operating procedure templates.
- Assist with the annual external audit process, including communicating directly with auditors and preparing requested materials and schedules.
- Ensure applications for Palmetto Trust Company licenses are complete and filed timely.
- Assist with annual financial statement preparation and disclosures.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university is required.
- Five to ten years of progressive experience in an accounting and/or finance environment is required.
- A certified Public Accounting license (CPA) is strongly preferred.
- Big 4 public accounting firm experience is strongly preferred.
- Real estate and investment management experience preferred.
