Job Title: Department Manager

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Extrusion Department with a focus on continuous improvement and performance metrics.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for all employees, adhering to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop and mentor subordinates through education, training, and teamwork.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with employees, fostering engagement and satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with the Plant Superintendent and leadership team.
  • Establish workflow policies to enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity.
  • Create schedules for employees to ensure optimum staffing levels.
  • Assist in preparing the annual plant operating budget and meet or exceed productivity, cost, or performance metric expectations.
  • Hire, train, direct, and mentor staff with diverse backgrounds.
  • Coordinate production scheduling to meet customer demands, minimize inventory, and reduce costs.
  • Support quality initiatives to ensure products meet customer expectations.
  • Build and maintain productive employee relationships and drive employee satisfaction.
  • Provide coaching and disciplinary action, reviewing effectiveness and consistency.
  • Work with the Plant Superintendent and Human Resources on employee-related concerns or issues.
  • Identify, propose, and implement capital projects to improve operational performance.
Requirements:
  • Previous education and/or training in manufacturing, engineering, safety, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous Extrusion experience with the plant's existing equipment/machines is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, including creating charts, graphs, SOPs, One Point Lessons, and presentations.
  • 3-5 years of supervision or operational leadership experience with progressive responsibilities.
  • High level of integrity, trust, and ethical standards.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules as needed to support all shifts.
  • Above-average communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to maintain composure.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proven record of safety leadership.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic with a dedication to employee safety.
  • Comfortable in public speaking and training large groups of coworkers.
Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this role is from $104,400 to $117,450. An annual bonus is awarded to eligible employees upon attaining various business and individual goals as defined by the Company and the department leader.
