The In-School Suspension Assistant will provide instructional and behavioral support to students referred to in-school suspension. This role requires a strong understanding of instructional strategies and behavioral interventions to support student success.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate instructional activities with classroom teachers to ensure students receive academic support while in in-school suspension.
- Monitor students' regular academic work and provide feedback to students and teachers.
- Work with the school's S-Team to implement procedures that promote positive student behavior and safety.
- Provide tutorial assistance to students assigned to in-school suspension and assign special assignments related to their infractions.
- Collaborate with school and district team members to meet the academic, effective, and behavioral needs of students.
- Monitor student progress following their return to the regular classroom and contact parents regarding students' conduct.
- Participate in school and district training to stay current on best practices in instructional and behavioral support.
- Associate's degree or two years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours) from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of experience working with urban and/or disadvantaged youth.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
