We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Automation Engineer to join our team. This role demands a proven track record in delivering automation solutions utilizing PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS/Delta V systems.


The successful candidate will engage directly with clients and guide a team of engineers in defining project requirements, crafting specifications, and executing/testing/validating automation solutions.


This position is pivotal within our business unit, necessitating strong analytical skills, effective interpersonal abilities, a focus on operational efficiency, and a commitment to fostering collaborative relationships.

The Lead Automation Engineer will demonstrate their effectiveness by securing ongoing projects with both new and existing clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


The role requires the capacity to provide innovative automation solutions and design standards, either independently or as a team leader.

The candidate must be adept at conceptualizing, detailing, and executing control systems for industrial applications that fulfill client specifications.

This includes developing control system architectures, selecting appropriate components, detailing schematic diagrams and system documentation, programming controllers (PLC, DCS/Delta V), creating process visualizations (HMI/SCADA), developing databases for historical data management, and implementing/commissioning control systems at client sites.

Proficiency in programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text, and others is essential.

Familiarity with standard programming languages like VBA, .NET, SQL, and Python for HMI/SCADA system development is preferred.

For larger systems, experience with industrial networking for connecting control system components and instrumentation is advantageous. The Lead Automation Engineer will design, detail, and implement various fiber, wired, and wireless systems using industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.)


This role often entails project management responsibilities, including developing project execution plans, work breakdown structures, budgets, task prioritization, scheduling, time tracking, financial reporting, early problem identification, conflict resolution, team leadership, and participation in project status meetings.

Additionally, the position involves overseeing daily operations and activities of projects with significant budgets. The Lead Automation Engineer is often responsible for ensuring the overall profitability of these projects.

The ideal candidate will possess a diverse engineering skill set and the ability to work autonomously. They will serve as the technical lead on projects, mentoring junior engineers and technicians, and may also act as Project Manager for smaller initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

Experience: Over 8 years of relevant experience is preferred, with expertise in the following areas:

- Comprehensive understanding of Emerson DeltaV platform.

- Experience with PLC-5 to ControlLogix conversions.

- In-depth knowledge of PLC hardware/software platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Modicon.


- Extensive familiarity with HMI/SCADA hardware/software platforms including Servers, VMs, Networks, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk and Plant Pax, Aveva System Platform and Edge, Inductive Automation Ignition, GE iFIX, Siemens WinCC, and TI Portal.

Understanding of DCS hardware/software platforms such as Emerson DeltaV or similar is essential.

Project Management experience with a PMP certification is a plus.

Knowledge of Batch/Recipes, OEE, MES, and ERP systems is beneficial.

Experience in sectors such as Semiconductor, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Water Treatment, and general manufacturing is preferred.


Experience in designing electrical schematics and control panels, including power distribution under 480VAC, along with knowledge of NEC references is desired.

Experience with AutoCAD is also preferred.

Experience leading teams of engineers/technicians to deliver control system solutions is essential.

Experience mentoring less experienced engineers is a plus.

Professional references from a subordinate, a peer, and a manager are required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
