Our Chemical Storage client is looking for a Direct Hire Instrumentation and Automation Project Engineer in Houston, TX (Texas City Onsite). You will be responsible for providing in-depth Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation engineering support. As part of the Center of Excellence (CoE) Engineering team, you will be responsible for evaluating and analyzing new storage and storage modification projects. You will develop technical proposals, prepare engineering documents and vendor specifications, prepare estimates, evaluate and manage costs, and schedule tasks.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation engineering support for growth initiatives, focusing on the design and construction of terminals and related infrastructure.
  • Develop technical proposals, prepare engineering documents, and create vendor specifications.
  • Prepare cost estimates and manage budgets, schedules, and task timelines with internal teams to optimize costs, processes, and quality.
  • Review and develop technical specifications to stay current with technological advancements.
  • Coordinate and participate in project reviews, technical analyses, peer reviews, HAZOP, and other engineering studies.
  • Share knowledge between the corporate center, terminals, clusters, and the Growth Engineering community.
  • Execute minor capital projects, including revenue-generating and sustaining projects.
  • Investigate operating deficiencies and inefficiencies and provide recommendations for modifications to improve equipment reliability and production efficiency.
  • Provide regular progress and budget overview reporting to management.
  • Support maintenance activities by reviewing existing assets, designs, and architecture and proposing improvements.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in the design and construction of LNG, ammonia, LPG, or chemical storage terminals.
  • Knowledge of relevant U.S. codes and standards.
  • Strong background in Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation within oil, chemical, or gas storage and distribution.
  • Experience in storage and handling of refrigerated and cryogenic fluids such as chemicals, hydrocarbons, butane, propane, propylene, LNG, and ammonia.
  • Understanding of terminal business processes, including operations and HSSE needs.
  • Ability to lead engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, considering commercial implications.
