Responsibilities
As a Medical Coordinator - Prior Authorization Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Coordinating and participating in various patient care/clinic preparations that support medical professionals, billing, and inventory management.
  • Leading prior authorizations by answering questions, assisting with difficult authorizations, or identifying potential trends for further discussion with the Infusion Operations Manager.
  • Submitting, verifying, and following up on prior authorization requests.
  • Collaborating with the billing department to address insurance changes and updating authorizations before appointments.
  • Completing a final review of the schedule for next-day patients, ensuring valid and correct authorizations and procurement methods.
  • Analyzing reports from prior authorization platforms and working closely with the Infusion Operations Manager on project tasks.
  • Providing information to patients and families about services, charges, and routine treatment procedures.
  • Assisting with scheduling same-day add-on infusions and new start patients, checking patients in and out, and advising nursing staff of arrival and departure times.
  • Filing faxes, distributing them appropriately, and answering telephone calls to provide information.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A high degree of verbal communication and interpersonal skills to determine needs, provide information, and offer emotional support.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, organizational, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adapt to changing priorities.

Salary Information
The estimated annual salary for this position is $ $62,500-$75,000, commensurate with experience. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.
