Social Services Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Social Worker to join our team at Bladen County, NC. As a Social Worker, you will be responsible for providing advanced level professional social work services in serious and complicated cases that require the flexible use of a wide range of social work skills.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments of child safety, family strengths and needs, and family support systems.
- Work in partnership with community agencies to assist families in attaining optimum functioning.
- Prepare court summaries, participate in associated court proceedings, and testify when needed.
- Provide group, family, or individual treatment to clients of any age and any developmental, mental, medical, substance abuse, financial, or family problem.
- Operate a vehicle and a variety of office equipment, including a computer, printer, typewriter, copier, telephone, calculator, etc.
- Interact and communicate with the immediate supervisor, other County department heads and employees, clients and family members, other social service and health professionals, various outside social service/health agencies, attorneys, court personnel, law enforcement personnel, school personnel, and the general public.
- Attend meetings, training, workshops, conferences, etc., as required to enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Perform general administrative/office work as required, including attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, sending and receiving faxes, copying and filing documents, reviewing correspondence, answering the telephone, etc.
- Thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures, and policies of the Department of Social Services as they pertain to the performance of duties of the Social Worker III IA&T.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of social work, especially in the areas of adult and child protective services, adult home care, foster/adoptive services.
- Thorough knowledge of child welfare policies and practices and be able to integrate this knowledge and skill into solid social work practice.
- Thorough knowledge of proper English usage, vocabulary, spelling, and basic mathematics.
- Thorough knowledge of modern office practices and technology.
- Thorough knowledge of terminology used in the profession.
- Knowledge of recent developments, current literature, and sources of information regarding social services.
- Knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Knowledge of the terminology used within the department.
- Knowledge of and skill in the use of computers for word and data processing and records management.
- Knowledge of caseload management methods.
Minimum Education and Experience
- MSW from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative.
- MSW from an accredited school of social work plus one year directly related experience.
- BSW from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative plus one year directly related experience.
- BSW from an accredited school of social work plus two years directly related experience.
- Four-year degree in a human service field plus three years directly related experience.
- Four-year college or university degree plus four years of directly related experience.
Special Requirements
- Possess valid North Carolina Driver's License.
- Bilingual preferred English/Spanish.
