About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technician to join our dynamic team of experts in the Mechanics and Materials section. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in performing material testing for aerospace, defense, energy, and medical device applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist senior technicians and technical staff in the execution of mechanical testing of materials, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
  • Prepare specimens and equipment for testing, monitoring, and documenting information during testing, adhering to strict quality control standards.
  • Support the team with administrative lab tasks, including materials inventory, tool calibrations, and shipping and receiving, ensuring seamless operations.
What You'll Do Daily
  • Test specimen measurement and preparation, including dimensional measurements, polishing, and labeling, to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Assemble and modify test fixtures for test execution, utilizing standard mechanical tools and measurement devices.
  • Set up test frames by installing fixtures, test chambers, instrumentation, and specimens, ensuring precise and reliable testing.
  • Log and enter data into log sheets and computer files, perform basic data reduction, and communicate results to the team.
  • Maintain and repair lab equipment and hardware, including hydraulic systems and chillers, to ensure optimal performance.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 0-5 years of experience with standard mechanical tools and measurement devices, such as calipers.
  • 0-5 years of hands-on skills to assemble test fixtures and mechanical systems using tools and wrenches.
  • 0-5 years of basic computer skills, including understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to understand written/verbal instruction and use email for communication.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
