Position Overview:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for delivering direct patient care under the guidance of nursing leadership.


Shift/Hours:
Full-Time (32 or 40 hours)

Available Shifts: Day Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm with rotating weekends.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assume full responsibility for the quality of nursing care provided to patients, ensuring optimal health outcomes through teaching, counseling, and collaborative planning.
  • Incorporate our commitment to patient rights and our mission into nursing practice.
  • Act as a patient advocate, assisting individuals in developing self-advocacy skills.
  • Document patient information accurately and promptly.
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, considering biopsychosocial factors and medical history.
  • Monitor and document ongoing assessments of patients' conditions and respond appropriately.
  • Communicate special nutritional needs to the registered dietitian.
  • Assess vital signs and report any abnormalities to the physician.
  • Develop individualized crisis plans to maintain patient safety.
  • Participate in the creation of patients' master treatment plans.
  • Provide nursing care in a therapeutically effective manner, demonstrating clinical judgment and competency.
  • Engage in community meetings and group therapies as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
  • Conduct patient rounds and document observations accurately.
  • Provide ongoing education to patients and families.
  • Transcribe medication orders accurately and maintain medication administration records.
  • Administer prescribed medications safely and evaluate patient responses.
  • Assume charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of relevant psychiatric experience.

Licensure/Certification:
Current RN license.
CPR Certification required prior to employment.

Knowledge:
Understanding of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships, and crisis management.

Required Competencies:
Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:
Physical agility to manage patients in crisis, including the ability to lift and move patients as necessary.
