Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Exercise Specialist to join our team at Marathon Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine. As an Exercise Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting patients and Physical Therapists to implement personalized exercise programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist MPT staff during fitness assessments, exercise sessions, and rehabilitation programs.
  • Observe and learn from experienced clinicians, gaining insights into best practices and advanced exercise techniques.
  • Provide direct supervision and guidance to patients during exercise sessions.
  • Engage in regular training sessions and educational workshops to enhance your clinical knowledge and exercise skills.

Mentorship and Learning Program

We are committed to your professional growth and development. Our mentorship and learning program is designed to provide you with the necessary tools and knowledge to excel as an Exercise Specialist.

  • One-on-one mentorship with experienced exercise specialists who will guide and support you throughout your learning journey.
  • Monthly staff inservices focusing on various aspects of exercise science, physiology, patient management, and ethical practices.
  • Opportunities to participate in case discussions, projects, and other educational offerings to deepen your understanding of evidence-based practices in an outpatient clinic setting.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • High School Diploma: Preferred Education - BS in Health, Exercise, Physiology, or Kinesiology.
  • Passion for working with patients and a strong desire to pursue a career as an Exercise Specialist.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with patients and the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • A strong commitment to learning and continuous professional development.

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.

Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.

Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.

Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required.
