Position Summary:

The Insurance Authorization Specialist plays a crucial role in providing onsite assistance at designated healthcare facilities, ensuring seamless support for the screening team. This position is responsible for verifying patient eligibility upon admission and submitting necessary documentation to insurance providers for treatment authorization. Additionally, the specialist will assess copayment amounts and any relevant details regarding the patient's financial obligations during their stay. This vital information will be communicated to the screening team and various healthcare entities, including hospitals and outpatient facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and evaluate potential candidates for placement in long-term care facilities, verifying their insurance coverage.
  • Submit required documentation to authorization bodies to secure approval for patient stays.
  • Provide updates on authorization statuses, including both approvals and denials, to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with hospital personnel, including social workers and discharge planners, regarding patient discharge timelines.
  • Assist screening team members with various related tasks as needed.
  • Research patient financial responsibility information online and communicate findings to the appropriate teams.
  • Establish and nurture professional relationships with hospital staff.
  • This position requires onsite presence at healthcare facilities.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience in insurance or authorization roles.
  • Experience with long-term care reimbursement is a plus.
