We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Nutrition Services Assistant to join our team at Delaware Schools Consortium. As a key member of our food service team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students by providing high-quality nutrition services.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain professional development requirements/continuing education units (CEUs) per USDA federal regulations.
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals to students, ensuring compliance with USDA meal patterns and food safety guidelines.
- Provide excellent customer service to students, families, and staff, responding to their needs and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
- Collaborate with the food service team to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in food service management and nutrition.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
- Successful completion of Delaware Department of Education's Food Service Unit Course series, or willingness to complete series within two years of employment.
- Current ServSafe Certification, or willingness to complete within one year of employment.
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate in English (read, write, speak) with students, families, staff, administration, and community members.
- Ability to read and effectively execute recipes.
- Knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn, current USDA meal patterns for school nutrition programs.
- Ability to work in an environment of extreme cold, hot, and humid temperatures for sustained periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent work history, including evidence of punctuality, good attendance, and satisfactory evaluations.
- Excellent health, including full range of motion, manual dexterity, ability to stand for at least four (4) hours at a time.
- Ability to perform the following actions: bending, squatting, climbing, carrying, moving objects, and lifting a minimum of at least 50 lbs.
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
