About the Role

US Oncology, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Regional Travel Oncology Nurse to join our team. As a Regional Travel Oncology Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in various oncology settings throughout the Gulf Coast Region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing care to patients with cancer, adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations.
  • Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
  • Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
  • Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time, and technique.
  • Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management.
  • Perform venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
  • Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
  • Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and records the information in the patient chart.
  • Triage patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.
  • Assist patients in locating available community resources.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-5 years of nursing experience.
  • Willing to consider an entry, mid, or senior level candidate.
  • Oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
