Position Title: Residential Advisor

Reports To: Program Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Residential Advisors play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment that promotes personal growth and rehabilitation. Their primary responsibilities include:

  1. Facilitating daily activities and encouraging positive personal hygiene and behavior.
  2. Assisting in evaluating individual capabilities and needs for independent living, contributing to the development of Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
  3. Providing guidance in budgeting and financial management skills.
  4. Teaching self-medication techniques in accordance with regulations and supervising medication administration when necessary.
  5. Supporting individuals in completing household tasks and chores.
  6. Assisting with grocery shopping, meal planning, and preparation.
  7. Engaging in one-on-one discussions with individuals to address concerns and challenges.
  8. Encouraging participation in house meetings and peer discussions.
  9. Managing emergency situations effectively and utilizing crisis intervention strategies as needed.
  10. Teaching public transportation skills and providing transportation to appointments when required.
  11. Maintaining accurate records, including data collection and daily logs, and ensuring effective communication with team members.
  12. Promoting healthy nutrition and connecting individuals with community resources for nutritional support.
  13. Fostering relationship-building skills and community integration.
  14. Guiding individuals in problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  15. Organizing leisure and recreational activities that align with individual interests.
  16. Supporting self-management skills related to health and behavior.
  17. Instructing basic first aid, fire safety, and emergency preparedness.
  18. Empowering individuals to make choices and decisions in their daily lives.
  19. Assisting in the development of natural support systems.
  20. Encouraging self-esteem and personal empowerment.
  21. Adhering to individual treatment plans consistently.
  22. Conducting monthly fire drills in compliance with safety procedures.
  23. Reporting any incidents of abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.
  24. Coordinating with maintenance personnel and inspectors as needed.
  25. Participating in mandatory training sessions and team meetings.
  26. Implementing safety regulations and procedures.
  27. Performing physical tasks as required.
  28. Carrying out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  1. A High School Diploma and at least one year of experience in Human Services. Training is available for less experienced candidates.
  2. Certification in medication administration.
  3. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  4. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact tactfully with others.
  6. Reliability and adaptability in various situations.
  7. Insightfulness and effective communication skills.
  8. A valid driver's license and the ability to operate a van.
  9. Training in crisis intervention techniques.
  10. Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
  11. Clearances from ACT 33, 34, and 73 (criminal background checks).
