Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team at KinderCare Learning Companies. As a Culinary Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for our children, ensuring that they have the fuel they need to learn and grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Prepare and serve meals and snacks that meet the nutritional needs of our children, following a menu developed by our in-house nutritionist.
- Order food and supplies, ensuring that we have the necessary ingredients and equipment to provide high-quality meals.
- Dispense and store medication, as requested, and complete timely and accurate documentation according to KinderCare and other licensing or regulation requirements.
- Assist with and take on responsibility in other daily center duties, as needed, to support the success of our centers.
- Partner with center staff and leadership to achieve goals around enrollment, accreditation, and engagement.
Requirements
- Familiarity with food safety and handling procedures, including accurate food storage and handling, and the ability to implement methods of food cross-contamination avoidance.
- Ability to follow nutritious menus and prepare sufficient quantities of food for our center population.
- Basic math skills required for measuring and calculating serving portions.
- Possession of a Food Handler's License or willingness to obtain.
- At least one year of institutional cooking experience, with food ordering experience highly desirable.
- Two or more years working with children, highly desirable.
- Physical ability to use a computer with basic proficiency and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, as required.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English to communicate with children and their parents.
