Job Summary

The City of Pico Rivera is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Specialist to join our Parks and Recreation team. This grant-funded position will provide enrichment afterschool programs for children, promoting academic and social skills development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging afterschool programs for children, focusing on academic and social skills development.
  • Work closely with the El Rancho Unified School District to ensure program alignment and effectiveness.
  • Provide homework assistance, mentoring, and recreational activities in a safe and supervised environment.
  • Employ positive classroom management and discipline techniques to ensure a productive and respectful learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community partners to promote program success and community engagement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Two years of experience working with children and developing and implementing programs.
  • Valid California Class C Driver's License or California Identification Card.
  • Certification in Infant/Child/Adult CPR, Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), and Community First Aid and Safety.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
