Job Title: Academic Advisor and Student Recruitment Coordinator

Colorado State University is seeking a highly motivated and organized Academic Advisor and Student Recruitment Coordinator to join our team. This is a 12-month, full-time Administrative Professional position.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University is committed to providing a world-class education and conducting cutting-edge research. We are seeking a dynamic individual to become the Academic Advisor and Student Recruitment Coordinator of a new Bachelor of Science degree program in Construction Engineering.

Job Summary

This position plays a critical role in promoting undergraduate student recruitment and success through a variety of activities, including outreach and promotion of the construction and engineering industry, career paths, and the construction engineering major. The Academic Advisor and Student Recruitment Coordinator will work closely with relevant department committees and entities both internal and external to the university.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate recruitment and enrollment of prospective first year, change of major, and transfer students in alignment with CON-E program priorities and requirements.
  • Represent the CON-E program at university, college, and unit-level recruitment events and related opportunities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to strengthen partnerships with high schools and community colleges to support student recruitment to the CON-E program at CSU.
  • Market and coordinate university, college, and CON-E events, as well as external events, with prospective students and their families.
  • Participate in relevant department committees and seek input from faculty and staff to plan and execute recruitment events.
  • Liaise with various offices across the college and university to successfully coordinate recruitment activities.
  • Coordinate with Communications Manager to maintain printed, web-based, and social media marketing and materials.
  • Support program tours and advise prospective CON-E students on admission to CSU and the CON-E major.
  • Develop and deliver presentations, interactive workshops, and activities to various audiences to support recruitment efforts.
  • Mentor and advocate for students from underrepresented, diverse populations and first-generation students.
  • Plan and execute summer recruitment and outreach programs for middle and high school students as determined by program priorities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Communications, Marketing, Psychology, Student Affairs, or related field.
  • At least one year of professional advising experience with undergraduate students supporting academic success efforts or equivalent experience working with high school student success programming.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and ability to develop and give presentations to groups of various sizes, demographics, and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of issues facing students from underrepresented groups, experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, and commitment to diversity.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to attend in-person events with supplies, valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license by the employment start date.
  • Availability to work flexible, non-standard hours, including some early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal, and public speaking).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in architecture, construction, engineering, or related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • At least one year of professional experience with undergraduate students coordinating engagement programming and recruitment activities at the college or high school level.
  • Proficiency in data collection and using university information systems, such as EAB Navigate, Admissions data, Institutional Research, Planning & Effectiveness dashboards, Banner, and Slate, which contribute to data-informed strategies for academic success and student recruitment.
  • Experience working with and serving the needs of underrepresented communities.
  • Experience with program and event planning, organization, and implementation.
  • Experience or ability to show initiative and independence as a self-motivated team player and leader with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
