Position Overview:

The Neurodiagnostic Technician is responsible for conducting both standard and advanced EEG recordings, capturing vital neurophysiological data as per directives from physicians or licensed independent practitioners (LIPs). This role requires minimal supervision and involves reporting significant patient abnormalities to the appropriate medical personnel.

The technician will execute various EEG procedures, adapting techniques based on the patient's medical history and observations during the recording process. Additionally, this position may involve providing training and orientation to new staff and participating in clinical research initiatives.


Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or relevant experience is preferred.
Certification & Licensure:
BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification is required.
Preferred Experience:
At least six months of experience in performing EEG procedures in an acute care environment for adults and a minimum of one year for neonates.

Skills and Knowledge:

Proficiency in human anatomy, particularly neuroanatomy, is essential for effective monitoring and recognizing neurological abnormalities. The technician must be adept at identifying irregularities in EEG recordings and possess a strong understanding of recording sites and montages to localize various conditions.

Knowledge of basic pharmacology, especially concerning anti-epileptic and anesthetic medications, is necessary. Familiarity with medical terminology and the ability to operate digital electroencephalographic and evoked potential equipment is crucial. The technician should be capable of testing patients across all age groups, including pediatrics, and have a solid understanding of both analog and digital neurodiagnostic equipment.
