Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and direct patients for appointments, tests, and referrals, utilizing effective customer relations skills and telephone techniques.
  • Schedule patient appointments, test procedures, and prepare appointment notices using a computerized scheduling system.
  • Obtain and verify patient demographic, financial, and insurance information using a computerized scheduling system.
  • Perform pre-registration activities to gather demographic information, determine medical insurance coverage, and identify patients with delinquent accounts.
  • Perform patient appointment maintenance activities to ensure accurate patient appointment history.
  • Counsel patients on unpaid balances from previous visits and anticipated costs for services.
  • Collect payment due at time of appointment and prepare receipts for all monies collected.
  • Print forms or reminder cards necessary to facilitate the patient encounter and daily operations.
  • Work with physicians and nursing staff to facilitate the patient encounter and departmental responsibilities.
  • Assist in answering inquiries regarding departmental and Medical Center services and provide information regarding procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Print and review daily scheduling reports and distribute as appropriate.
  • Review and balance daily cash receipts and submit daily cash deposits to the cashier.
  • Review reports to ensure charges have been entered for each appointment.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Two years college degree preferred.
  • Three years' experience in providing customer services necessary.
  • Customer service experience in a patient care environment, including one year experience in patient scheduling, preferred.
  • Experience utilizing a computerized patient scheduling system or computer terminals necessary.
  • Familiarity with Medical insurance and medical terminology necessary.
  • Typing skill of 30 wpm necessary.
  • Knowledge of IDX patient scheduling/registration systems preferred.
  • 2 years of office management experience, preferably in physician office and/or ambulatory care setting.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm. Drivers License required, must be able to travel to another office if coverage is needed.

Pay Range:

$25.65. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount or if the position is Per Diem (offering a fixed rate), salary discussions will occur during the screening process.
