Job Purpose

The role of Privacy Assistant Manager is crucial in executing the American Honda Finance Corporation (AHFC) Data Privacy and Information Security Program (DAPIS). This program is a risk-oriented Privacy-by-Design initiative aimed at standardizing operational processes, protocols, and internal controls to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations concerning the handling and safeguarding of sensitive and non-public personal consumer information. The primary responsibility of this position is to protect consumer privacy effectively.



Key Responsibilities

Key duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Advocate for Privacy-by-Design principles within AHFC, ensuring compliance with relevant data privacy laws and regulations, and developing privacy policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive policies, procedures, and training materials for associates.
  • Track developments in Privacy legislation and establish processes to evaluate AHFC's compliance.
  • Collaborate with Vendor Management to ensure third-party privacy compliance and review consumer complaints.
  • Oversee the data mapping and inventory of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) projects and provide guidance on regulatory requirements.



Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A BA/BS degree is required; additional certifications such as AIPP, CIPM, CIPP, or other privacy-related credentials are advantageous.
  • Over 8 years of experience in privacy within the business or financial services sector, including expertise in privacy regulations, legal compliance, data protection standards, and program management.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with IT, project managers, and staff to fulfill privacy-related obligations.
  • Support for the enhancement of privacy controls within AHFC and across company initiatives.
  • Participation in audit and examination meetings, analyzing documents and materials during privacy audits.



Additional Skills

  • Exceptional writing abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint, as well as familiarity with tools like Visio and Access.



Position Specifics

  • Workstyle: Hybrid (3 days in the office required).
  • Travel: 5%.
  • Manager car eligibility (includes coverage for insurance and maintenance).
