Senior Product Manager for Construction Equipment

In the role of Senior Product Manager for Construction Equipment, you will focus on articulated dump trucks and oversized construction machinery (such as 50-ton excavators and larger) throughout North America. This position merges product knowledge with consultative abilities to effectively meet customer demands. We are looking for an individual with extensive expertise in the construction machinery sector, a talent for addressing customer challenges, and the capability to tailor equipment solutions to specific operational needs. This role necessitates collaboration with internal teams, dealers, and clients, along with a willingness to visit various job sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with sales teams and dealers to identify and capitalize on opportunities from lead generation to closing deals. Provide demonstration support and technical guidance as necessary during the sales process. Assist in uncovering customer requirements based on specific job site conditions. Help configure machinery to meet client specifications.
  • Collect Voice of Customer (VOC) and Voice of Dealer (VOD) insights: Gather feedback from customers and dealers to understand their needs, challenges, and preferences. Use this information to drive product enhancements and improvements. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments. Analyze market data and competitor offerings to pinpoint opportunities and risks.
  • Establish and uphold a strategic product roadmap that aligns with market needs and company goals. Prioritize features and improvements based on customer feedback, market trends, and business objectives. Maintain pricing pages and product options in accordance with pricing strategies and market dynamics, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
  • Design and implement comprehensive product training programs for dealer sales professionals. Ensure that dealers possess a thorough understanding of product features, advantages, and competitive differentiators. Collaborate closely with the Marketing team to create product materials, sales tools, and messaging. Support marketing initiatives and product launches with relevant content and information.
  • Monitor product performance, sales metrics, and market share. Identify opportunities for portfolio optimization and growth. Work in conjunction with Service, Warranty, and Engineering teams to resolve product issues and develop long-term solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in product management or a related field within the heavy construction machinery industry, with a preference for OEM experience. Familiarity with mining operations or similar environments and experience with clients managing large machinery fleets is advantageous.
  • Deep understanding of articulated dump trucks (ADT) and oversized construction machinery is essential.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Prior operational experience with heavy construction equipment is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
