Job Summary:

The University of Oklahoma is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our Pharmaceutical Sciences team at the Health Sciences Center. As a Research Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our research staff by collecting data, maintaining records, conducting literature searches, technical research, analyzing data, and preparing reports with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection and Management: Collect and organize data from various sources, including literature searches and experiments.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of research activities, including data collection, experiments, and literature searches.
  • Technical Research: Conduct technical research to support research staff, including literature searches and data analysis.
  • Report Preparation: Prepare reports on research activities, including data collection, experiments, and literature searches.
  • Lab Maintenance: Maintain the lab, including arranging chemicals, solvents, cleaning glass/labware, equipment calibration, maintaining inventory, and handling and disposal of trash.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with lab inspections, follow up, and corrective actions as per recommendations from the inspecting body.
  • Assistance: Assist other members of the lab as needed.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science, Chemistry, or Physical Science or related field.
  • Experience: 12 months research laboratory experience.
  • Skills:
    • Biohazardous Materials Handling: Working knowledge of how to safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials or chemicals following Federal, State, and University regulations and guidelines.
    • Detail-Oriented: Detail-oriented with ability to analyze data and keep records.
    • Communication: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical: Standing for prolonged periods, manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 25 pounds, reaching, bending, and stooping.
  • Environmental: Laboratory Environment, exposure to biohazardous materials, chemicals, odors, and/or carcinogens.
