Job Description:

We are seeking a Data Science Intern to join our team for a 12-week summer immersive and transformative internship experience. As a Data Science Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a growing, mission-driven, consumer-centric organization and work alongside our Data Engineering and Reporting teams to deliver high-quality data science solutions to key business stakeholders.

You will assist in a number of projects, including ML model development and enhancement, feature engineering, data source exploration, ad-hoc analysis, data visualization, and use of Python, R, and SQL to analyze and extract insights that will enhance decision-making capabilities.

Specific project and operational roles will be identified 30-60 days prior to the start of the internship, based on business need and intern interests.


Responsibilities:

The Data Science Intern will assist in the following projects:

  • ML Model Development and Enhancement: Identify optimal model methodology, evaluation criteria, and hyperparameter tuning.
  • Feature Engineering: Create meaningful features with data assets to improve production ML models.
  • Data Source Exploration: Explore disparate data sources to assess their value and usability in analytics solutions.
  • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Dive into solving business problems partnering with stakeholders in the organization.
  • Data Visualization: Create insightful dashboards and charts to aid in storytelling with business partners.
  • Use Python, R, and SQL to analyze and extract insights that will enhance decision-making capabilities.

Qualifications:

Candidates must be pursuing a four-year undergraduate or graduate degree or at an institution with an accredited program in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field with a graduation date in 2026.

Candidates must have experience in Python, R, and SQL, as well as proficiency in reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.

Candidates must have a demonstrated understanding of Statistical Modeling or Machine Learning concepts and the ability to develop predictive models.

Candidates must be able to work independently and in teams and bring joy while doing so.

Candidates must have strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information and use discretion within and outside of the organization.
