Job Summary:

This position plays a critical role in supporting the Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Lurie Children's Hospital transplant centers by performing high-complexity clinical lab procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for molecular-based tissue typing, flow cytometric, and solid-phase antibody testing, as well as immunoassays. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform, analyze, and interpret clinical histocompatibility tests, ensuring accuracy and precision in results.
  • Maintain and ensure quality of laboratory instrumentation and reagents, adhering to CLIA and ASHI certification standards.
  • Manage clinical lab data and generate reports, utilizing statistical tests to inform decision-making.
  • Complete daily general lab maintenance, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Train students, other technologists, or staff in high-complexity assays and high-level clinical testing analysis.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in science or related field, with a minimum of one year of experience in standard clinical laboratory operating procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work under stress and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good eye for detail, manual dexterity, and ability to maintain mental concentration in a complex work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with standard clinical laboratory operating procedures, with a focus on histocompatibility and immunogenetics.
  • Experience in training new technologists, with a focus on high-complexity assays and high-level clinical testing analysis.
  • American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI) Histocompatibility technologist (CHT) or specialist (CHS) certification.
