Job Summary:

This position plays a critical role in supporting the Northwestern University Medical Center and Lurie Children's Hospital transplant centers by performing high-complexity clinical laboratory procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting molecular-based tissue typing, flow cytometric, and solid-phase antibody testing and crossmatch, as well as immunoassays.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of laboratory protocols, policies, and regulations, including Good Clinical and Good Laboratory Practices. This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform, analyze, and interpret clinical histocompatibility tests, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Maintain and ensure the quality of laboratory instrumentation and reagents, adhering to strict quality control standards.
  • Manage clinical lab data and generate reports, providing insights to support decision-making.
  • Complete daily general lab maintenance, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Train students, other technologists, or staff in high-complexity assays and high-level clinical testing analysis.
  • Participate in continuing educational activities, staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as science or a related field.
  • One year of experience in standard clinical laboratory operating procedures or related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to maintain focus and mental concentration in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with standard clinical laboratory operating procedures.
  • Experience in training new technologists.
  • American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI) Histocompatibility technologist (CHT) or specialist (CHS) certification.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting.
