Position Overview:

The role of the Career Coach is pivotal in assisting individuals in navigating their career paths. This position is dedicated to supporting youth and adults who require guidance in career planning. The Career Coach will proactively engage with students during their high school years, motivating them to pursue postsecondary education, vocational training, or apprenticeships as viable pathways to achieving economic independence.

Key Responsibilities:

· Conduct outreach initiatives aimed at low-income students and their families, providing crucial information about the significance of postsecondary education and guidance on preparation, application, and financing.

· Facilitate the creation of personalized career plans and portfolios tailored to individual aspirations.

· Assist students in enrolling in educational or training programs that align with their career goals.

· Offer insights into various careers, career trajectories, and the educational prerequisites necessary for success. Organize opportunities for job shadowing, mentoring, internships, and other career exploration activities.

· Connect low-income students with support services designed to ease their transition into postsecondary education.

· Provide information on obtaining the General Educational Development (GED) credential.

· Link educationally disadvantaged youth and adults to foundational programs that enhance basic academic skills while preparing them for better job opportunities and further education.

· Deliver continuous career guidance to facilitate smooth transitions from middle school to high school, then to postsecondary education or training, and ultimately into the workforce.

· Additional responsibilities may be assigned in alignment with the overarching goals of the organization.

Qualifications:

· A Bachelor's degree is mandatory.

· Prior experience in higher education or a public educational setting is preferred.

· The candidate must exhibit a high level of motivation and the ability to work independently.

· Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, is essential.

· Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required, along with effective communication abilities in both oral and written formats.

· A background check will be conducted as part of the hiring process.
