Cognitive-Communication Specialist

Position Overview:

The role primarily involves engaging in patient-focused assessments and interventions related to cognitive-communication, alongside addressing speech, voice, and swallowing needs as clinically necessary.

  • Deliver outstanding direct evaluations and interventions as part of a collaborative clinical care team, working closely with physicians, allied health professionals, behavioral health experts, and integrative care providers.

Document patient care and provide educational resources regarding treatment methodologies.

Facilitate clinical treatment and education for patients and their families concerning communication techniques and cognitive strategy support.

Enhance the quality of care within the BRAVE Program by promoting an understanding of strategies that support essential components of TBI-related persistent symptom improvement, with a primary emphasis on cognitive functioning, auditory issues, and communication skills.

Collaborate with colleagues in small groups aimed at program development, quality enhancement, and/or continuing education initiatives as required.

Ability to research and critically evaluate the best evidence to inform clinical decision-making and effectively communicate relevant findings to colleagues and the general public.

Capacity to perform under moderate to high stress levels.

Current knowledge of or willingness to learn about military culture.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Aptitude for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues across all levels within a dynamic environment.

Ability to maintain a positive and collaborative attitude.

Proficiency in organizing and prioritizing tasks with minimal supervision while maintaining an orderly work environment.

Competent computer skills, including the ability to navigate various applications.
