About the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced RN Manager to lead our Cardiac Surgical Intermediate Care Unit at Alaska Regional Hospital. As a Manager, you will be responsible for providing supervisory and management oversight for staff members and departmental resources and processes. You will collaborate with physicians to expedite information and manage throughput on cases ranging from minor injuries to acutely or critically ill patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Nursing Unit Director in planning, implementing and assessing the day-to-day functions of the unit.
  • Provide supervisory and management oversight for staff members and departmental resources and processes.
  • Collaborate with physicians to expedite information and manage throughput on cases ranging from minor injuries to acutely or critically ill patients.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of staff performance and implement training and development accordingly.
  • Work with the Director on department staffing; hiring, evaluating, guiding, disciplining, and scheduling of staff.
  • Manage compliance with budget and financial metrics.
  • Support hospital-wide initiatives and work to foster positive relationships between the ICU and CSIC and all other departments.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in the State of Alaska.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or enrolled in a program within 12 months.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.
  • A minimum of two years high acuity ICU experience.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
  • Strong clinical skills in the performance of ICU level nursing care.
  • Strong leadership skills and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work creatively within a team environment.
  • Initiative and creativity in proposing and implementing projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to integrate duties with other department programs to maximize impact and create efficiencies.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identifying trends relationships and proposing solutions.
