- Collaborate closely with the In-Use Compliance and Calibration teams to further develop and sustain this work stream, including its extension into low and mid-mileage assessments. This entails procuring and coordinating emissions testing as well as reviewing emissions and On-Board Diagnostic components for Voice of the Customer Fleet vehicles.
Project Aim:
To pinpoint potential emissions concerns, the Vehicle Homologation & Compliance (VH&C) team has launched a project focused on testing Voice of the Customer Fleet (VoCF) vehicles. These vehicles are instrumental in identifying early customer concerns, assessing degradation, and verifying issue resolution by subjecting pre-production units to real-world usage conditions.
Objectives of the Project:
- Establish and maintain a structured process for VoCF testing across various mileage thresholds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design a systematic approach to evaluate VoCF vehicles at low, mid, and high mileage.
- Work in tandem with the VoCF team to identify vehicles and monitor mileage levels, facilitating the routing of vehicles to and from testing facilities at appropriate intervals.
- Coordinate with Vehicle Propulsion System Engineering (VPSE) calibration teams to prepare for testing and gather relevant vehicle parameters.
- Oversee the monitoring and documentation of vehicle VDR data, including KAMs and DTCs, prior to testing.
- Manage the testing of vehicles at designated facilities and process data upon completion of tests.
- Assist in diagnosing vehicle issues during testing phases.
- Develop and uphold a data tracking system for test data throughout the vehicle's testing lifecycle.
- Provide monthly reports to Director/Chief level stakeholders regarding the status of the VoCF testing program.
- Review collected OBD data and engage with VPSE OBD engineers as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of emissions and fuel economy regulations, along with familiarity with emissions testing procedures, is advantageous.
- Proficient in engaging effectively with management and various organizations, including governmental bodies.
- Strong communication skills through various mediums such as email, telephone, and virtual meetings.
- Detail-oriented self-starter capable of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks with minimal oversight.
- Ability to research and comprehend regulatory requirements.
- Proficient in computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, database access, etc.).
- Excellent technical and verbal communication skills.
- A background in software/computer engineering is not aligned with the requirements of this role.
- A candidate with a mechanical or automotive background is preferred, as they will possess a deeper understanding of vehicle operations and potential issues.
