Job Summary

The Patent and Trademark Attorney will contribute to the creation and management of the company's patent and trademark portfolio. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and the patent and trademark process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and prosecute domestic patent applications with the USPTO or outside counsel.
  • Prepare and file foreign patent applications with outside counsel.
  • Conduct patent strategy and claim drafting for offensive or defensive purposes.
  • Identify technologies for patent protection through collaboration with integrated circuit designers and semiconductor device designers.
  • Work with paralegals and administrative staff to file patent and trademark applications and necessary paperwork with the USPTO.
  • Analyze the patent and trademark portfolio to assess cost and benefits and present recommendations to executive management.
  • Perform trademark clearance searches and analysis in domestic and foreign databases.
  • Prepare, file, and prosecute U.S. trademark applications and manage renewals with the USPTO.
  • Organize, file, and prosecute foreign trademark applications, and maintain registrations with counsel.
  • Oversee brand protection efforts and collaborate with internal departments for adherence to brand guidelines and trademark placement.
Requirements and Experience
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the California state bar.
  • Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a related technical field, with demonstrated competence in analog electronic circuits.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with patent and trademark prosecution.
  • Highly developed technical writing and editing skills, including a superior command of the English language.
  • Experience in patent application composition and technical journal writing is ideal.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as Visio, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for document preparation.
  • Experience with Patent Center and electronic docketing systems, such as Foundation IP, is a valuable asset.
Compensation and Benefits

Power Integrations offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including equity, medical benefits, ESPP, 401K, tuition reimbursement, and time off programs. The annual base pay range for this position is $133,472-$200,456, determined by role, level, qualifications, and work location.
