Job Title: Mechanical General Foreman

Overview:
The Mechanical General Foreman plays a pivotal role in overseeing all mechanical construction activities on a project site. This position ensures that mechanical systems are installed, maintained, and repaired efficiently and in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of mechanical technicians, pipefitters, welders, and millwrights.
  • Assign tasks, provide direction, and ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, and within project timelines.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and training to enhance team skills and productivity.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to plan and execute mechanical construction activities.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and schedules to ensure proper sequencing of mechanical work.
  • Monitor progress and adjust resource allocation as necessary to meet project milestones.
  • Ensure that all mechanical installations meet project specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Conduct inspections and tests to verify the integrity and functionality of mechanical systems and components.
  • Address any deficiencies or nonconformities promptly and implement corrective actions to maintain quality.
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents.
  • Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to promote a culture of safety among team members.
  • Monitor work practices and address safety concerns to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and tools required for mechanical work.
  • Manage inventory and control material usage to minimize waste and optimize resource utilization.
  • Ensure that equipment is properly maintained and operated in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of work activities, including work orders, daily progress reports, and inspection logs.
  • Prepare reports for project management, documenting project status, issues, and resolutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant documentation and recordkeeping requirements.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in mechanical construction or maintenance, with at least 8 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment, including piping, HVAC, boilers, and rotating machinery.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, such as ASME, ANSI, and OSHA.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional certification or training in mechanical technology, trade certification, or relevant field preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Stamina to work long hours and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Agility to navigate construction sites safely.
