Maintenance Technician Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at WestRock. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing general mechanical maintenance of our facility and equipment in a timely and courteous manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
  • Repair and maintain facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, compressed air, and humidification.
  • Paint and perform minor repairs of building interior and exterior, including masonry, wallboard, ceiling tiles, woodwork, etc.
  • Use rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments accurately.
  • Perform basic handiwork, such as replacing light bulbs, ballasts, water and air filters, and plumbing fixtures, cleaning drains, hanging pictures and bulletin boards, and maintaining proper forklift batteries.
  • Prepare and operate machine tools, such as grinders, and drill presses, to repair or fabricate machine parts and/or fixtures.
  • Perform inspections of and tests fire alarms and pumps.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Work on call as required.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Operate scissors and forklifts.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D).
  • Ability to properly use rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • HVAC training or licensure.
  • Working knowledge of A/C units, cooling towers, and small heat pumps.
  • Basic electric and mechanical safety training.
  • Some basic computer experience.
  • Knowledgeable in the safe use of hand and small power tools.
