Position Overview

This role is primarily focused on clinical responsibilities involving the assessment, treatment, and management of pediatric patients within a collaborative environment that includes a diverse team of healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, clinical researchers, and social workers. The position provides a unique opportunity to engage with a variety of pediatric cases, ranging from general to complex high-acuity conditions. Additionally, it encompasses educational responsibilities, including the mentorship of medical residents, as well as opportunities for involvement in research initiatives and academic publishing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilizes knowledge of pediatric growth and development in patient interactions and treatment planning.
  • Engages in continuous professional development through literature review, continuing medical education (CME), and participation in relevant conferences.
  • Facilitates and/or develops educational sessions to address the developmental needs of staff and residents.
  • Oversees the follow-up process for diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and patient communication.
  • Delivers direct clinical services to patients, which includes conducting comprehensive history and physical examinations, interpreting relevant patient data, formulating and documenting treatment plans, and managing routine orders for laboratory tests, imaging studies, and referrals.
  • Contributes suggestions to enhance departmental operations and patient care quality.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives, research projects, and publication efforts.
  • Serves as a mentor and educator for medical students and residents.
  • Engages in on-call responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state medical license in good standing.
  • Current certification in CPR BLS from the American Heart Association, maintained throughout employment.
