Position Overview

This role is fundamentally a clinical position focused on the assessment, treatment, and management of pediatric patients within a collaborative environment that encompasses physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, clinical scientists, and social workers. The role provides exposure to a diverse range of pediatric cases, including both general and high-acuity patients. Additionally, the position involves the education and oversight of medical residents and offers avenues for engaging in research and publication activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilizes knowledge of pediatric growth and development in patient interactions and treatment plans.
  • Engages in continuous self-education through professional journals, continuing medical education (CME) credits, and relevant conferences.
  • Organizes and delivers monthly training sessions to support staff and resident development.
  • Manages follow-up on diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and patient communication.
  • Provides direct clinical services, including conducting comprehensive history and physical examinations, interpreting patient data, formulating treatment plans, and executing necessary medical orders.
  • Offers constructive feedback to the Department Director and attending staff to enhance departmental operations.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives, research, and publication efforts.
  • Contributes to the education of medical students and residents, serving as a role model.
  • Participates in the on-call schedule as required.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited institution.
  • Active state medical license in good standing.
  • Current CPR BLS certification from the American Heart Association, maintained throughout employment.
