Position Overview

This role is primarily focused on clinical responsibilities involving the assessment, treatment, and management of pediatric patients within a collaborative setting that includes physicians, nursing staff, advanced practice providers, clinical researchers, and social service professionals. The position provides the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of pediatric cases, from general to complex high-acuity situations. Additionally, it encompasses educational responsibilities, including the mentorship of medical residents, and offers avenues for involvement in research initiatives and academic publishing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilizes expertise in child development during patient interactions and treatment planning.
  • Engages in continuous professional development through activities such as reading medical literature, attending conferences, and obtaining continuing medical education credits.
  • Facilitates and/or organizes monthly training sessions to address the developmental needs of staff and residents.
  • Oversees the follow-up of diagnostic tests, laboratory results, and patient communication.
  • Delivers direct clinical care to patients, which includes conducting thorough history and physical examinations, documenting relevant patient information, formulating and recording treatment strategies, issuing routine orders for necessary lab tests and imaging, providing education to patients and families, and performing essential screenings and medication administration as required.
  • Offers constructive feedback to the Department Director and attending staff aimed at enhancing departmental operations.
  • Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and publication efforts.
  • Contributes to the education of medical students and residents, serving as a role model in clinical practice.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation as designated.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state medical license with good standing status.
  • Current certification in CPR BLS from the American Heart Association, maintained throughout employment.
