Job Overview

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Innovator to join our Internet Security Research Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and building machine learning systems to detect and defend against emerging threats in the areas of Web Security.

You will work closely with data scientists, security researchers, and other engineers to implement different projects and develop big data and distributed systems that use machine learning models to analyze and categorize URLs. Your impact will be felt across the organization as you transform ideas into products that are part of the next generation security platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build machine learning systems while balancing cost and model performance
  • Productionize machine learning models and integrate with back-end services and pipelines
  • Set up automated training pipelines and develop data analytics tools to incrementally improve performance on a growing dataset
  • Collaborate closely with experts on the team and Product Managers to gather requirements, design, and implement systems
  • Work with other engineers and SREs on release/deployment

Requirements:

  • Proven creative thinker and team player with great communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficient in NLP, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, and LLM techniques
  • Extensive knowledge of ML frameworks, libraries, data structures, data modeling, and software architecture
  • Capable of working independently and coming up with innovative solutions to difficult problems
  • Working experience with website classifications is a plus
  • Proficient in Python, Java, Linux OS, and shell scripting
  • Experience with cloud platforms and container-based development
  • Familiar with database systems such as MySql, MongoDB, or similar
  • MS/Ph.D in Computer Science or a related field with 4+ years industry experience or equivalent military experience required
