As a Medical Assistant at Duke Health, you will be an integral member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing direct patient care and supporting administrative tasks. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Estimated Salary: $40,000 - $60,000 per year

Job Description:

The Medical Assistant will perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties, including taking medical histories, recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures, and preparing patients for examinations and procedures. They will also assist medical and nursing staff during examinations and procedures, collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, and document patient information in the medical record.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
  • 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA
  • BLS required
