Reporting to the Director of Advanced Manufacturing Machining at Dover Corporation, the Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer is tasked with implementing the manufacturing strategy aimed at enhancing machining operations, ensuring optimal equipment utilization, adhering to design specifications, conducting setup evaluations, and developing innovative control methodologies. This role is pivotal in leading the specification, sourcing, qualification, and seamless integration of new machinery into mass production, aligning with both Dover's and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with operational companies to enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through initiatives such as Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) for both new and existing machinery.
  • Contribute to corporate strategies aimed at driving productivity by internalizing expenditures on new capital expenditures and optimizing the use of current equipment.
  • Lead SMED events and conduct assessments of CNC technologies at various sites, managing improvement projects effectively.
  • Partner with operational companies to advance the maturity journey outlined in the Machining Excellence Playbook.
  • Provide technical guidance and implementation of new machining technologies to foster productivity enhancements.
  • Drive the machining strategy focused on productivity improvements through maximizing asset utilization.
  • Assist in the evolution of equipment and conduct acceptance evaluations as necessary.
  • Identify, recommend, procure, and install machine shop equipment, ensuring comprehensive maintenance and calibration.
  • Support workforce optimization, spatial requirements, workflow, and design equipment layouts for maximum efficiency.
  • Continuously seek improvements and recommend upgrades to equipment to enhance asset utilization.
  • Engage with tooling suppliers to ensure the appropriate tooling is utilized for production, collaborating on the development of advanced cutting tools for specific applications.
  • Develop in-house machining capabilities while implementing changes to improve machine functionality.
  • Identify, develop, and implement new machining techniques or refine existing ones to enhance quality, reduce costs, and optimize production schedules.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles for process development and problem resolution.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Support manufacturing efforts to achieve safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput objectives, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Utilize project management skills and tools to lead and support capital equipment and improvement initiatives.
  • Investigate equipment performance, identifying issues and proposing solutions.
  • Draft and revise User Requirement Specifications, Functional Requirements, Design Specifications, and Qualifications.
  • Support Factory and Site Acceptance Tests, conduct Machinability Studies, and validate protocols.
  • Review and approve Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), ensuring compliance with manufacturing and operational standards.
  • Employ continuous improvement methodologies to enhance internal processes.
  • Interact constructively across the organization to identify issues and implement enhancements.
  • Provide hands-on support for new product and process launches.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Regional travel of 40-50% may be necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Desired Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering, industrial technology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on machining processes.
  • Experience in setting up and operating advanced machining equipment.
  • Extensive background in machining and maintenance practices.
  • Proficient in standard machine shop manufacturing processes and setups.
  • Strong experience with SolidWorks or similar mechanical CAD software.
  • Highly skilled in various precision conventional and advanced metrology systems.
  • Commitment to safety in design and operational practices.
  • Solid understanding of Lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing abilities to collaborate with other departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
