Patient Care Technician II

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician II to join our team at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. This role is responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support services in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the delivery of patient care by performing specific tasks as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and transport of patients.
- Obtain and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, weights, and blood glucose testing.
- Report abnormalities and condition changes to the primary nurse promptly.
- Perform advanced skills, including oral suctioning, enemas, clean dressings, tube feeding setup, external catheter insertion, post-mortem care, and suction canister setup.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to share information and solve problems.
- Document patient information accurately and legibly using standardized abbreviations.
- Participate in walking rounds with the oncoming and off-going PCT at shift change.
- Provide personalized care to patients and families, identifying and documenting special needs.
- Utilize educational materials, programs, and resource personnel for career development and attend mandatory in-services to maintain unit competencies.
- Assist with code situations, including CPR and obtaining equipment, under the direction of the Code Blue Team.
- Adhere to organizational infection control practices and policies, including using two identifiers for blood samples and procedures.
- Maintain the general cleanliness and appearance of areas on the unit, including treatment rooms, showers, commodes, and IV poles.
- High school diploma or GED.
- AHA BLS provider certification course required within 90 days from date of hire.
- Minimum of three months experience as a PCT or currently in a junior semester of an Associates or Bachelor's nursing program.
- Significant manual skills and motor coordination.
- Some occupational risk.
- Very Heavy effort, exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
- Significant exposure to dirt, odor, noise, human waste, etc.
