Job SummaryWe are seeking a Patient Care Technician II PDP to join our team at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing patient care and support services to our patients and families.
Responsibilities- Assist in the delivery of patient care by performing specific patient care tasks as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and transport of patients.
- Obtain and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, weights, and blood glucose testing.
- Report abnormalities and condition changes to the primary nurse promptly.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to share information and solve problems.
- Document patient information accurately and legibly on hospital forms.
- Participate in walking rounds with the oncoming and off-going PCT at shift change.
- Provide personalized care to patients and families, identifying and documenting special needs.
- Utilize available educational materials and programs for career development and attend mandatory in-services to maintain unit competencies.
- Assist with code situations, including CPR and obtaining equipment, under the direction of the Code Blue Team.
- Adhere to organizational infection control practices and policies, including using two identifiers for blood samples and procedures.
- Maintain the general cleanliness and appearance of areas on the unit, including treatment rooms, showers, commodes, and IV poles.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- AHA BLS provider certification course within 90 days from date of hire.
- Minimum of three months experience as a PCT or currently in a junior semester of an Associates or Bachelor's nursing program.
This role is based at Vassar Brothers Medical Center and requires a per diem schedule with a minimum of two weekend shifts of eight hours or more per twenty-eight-day staffing cycle and two holidays.
