Responsibilities

As a Compounding Pharmacy Technician, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist to prepare and compound medications, maintain patient records, and perform tasks as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy.

  • Maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification; if not certified, obtain state-approved certification within the first year of employment.
  • Assist in training and orienting new pharmacy staff.
  • Collaborate with insurance and medical providers for billing and follow-up.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as required.
  • Verify IV pump settings for accuracy before medication delivery.
  • Successfully complete annual assessments of compounding standards.
  • Prepare prescriptions for filling under the supervision of the Pharmacist, ensuring all necessary pharmaceuticals are gathered and staged.
  • Clean and calibrate compounding equipment according to established guidelines.
  • Communicate with patients regarding medication supplies and deliveries.
  • Manage the continuation or cessation of services, process refill prescriptions, and document in patient records.
  • Utilize both administrative and clinical knowledge to assist Pharmacists in providing medications and healthcare products.
  • Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment.
  • Ensure compliance with USP 797 regulations in the production of compounded sterile preparations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • State pharmacy technician licensure.
  • National certification to be obtained within the first year of employment.
  • Minimum of six months experience in sterile IV compounding.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Proficient in mathematics.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Self-motivated with effective time management skills.
  • Familiarity with medical technology.
  • Availability for full-time daytime hours and on-call duties.
